EuroBasket 2025 Overview: Hosts, Venues and Format

Arena Riga exterior

EuroBasket 2025 is staged across four host nations: Latvia (Riga), Finland (Tampere), Cyprus (Limassol), and Poland (Katowice). Group A games are held in Riga, Group B in Tampere, Group C in Limassol and Group D in Katowice. FIBA designated Arena Riga to host the entire Final Phase, including the Round of 16, Quarterfinals, Semifinals, the Final and the Third‑Place Game.

The 24‑team tournament uses a familiar structure: six teams per group, each playing five games in a round‑robin. The top four nations in each group qualify for the single‑elimination Round of 16. Beyond brackets and venues, 2025 introduced a highly visible visual identity, with hosts confirming partner federations in the draw earlier this year to drive regional interest and travel. Latvia paired with Estonia, Finland with Lithuania, Cyprus with Greece, and Poland with Iceland during the draw process.

With the event running from August 27 through September 14, the group phase compresses into the first nine days, which places a premium on rotation depth and game‑to‑game adjustments. The format also means an 0–2 start is not fatal, but it significantly reduces margin for error ahead of the Riga knockout rounds. For traveling fans, the distribution of venues makes it possible to follow a group on site before converging on the Latvian capital for the medal games.

The group phase runs from August 27 to September 4 across Riga (Group A), Tampere (Group B), Limassol (Group C) and Katowice (Group D). The Round of 16 is single-elimination on September 6–7, followed by quarterfinals on September 9–10, semifinals on September 12, and the final on September 14 in Riga. Twenty-four teams play five group games each, with the top four in every group advancing. These dates and the multi-host setup are defined by FIBA for EuroBasket 2025 and shape the tactical choices teams make during the first week.
